Chapel Hill's dense tree canopy is a defining feature of the town — and it produces some of the heaviest pollen counts in the Triangle every spring. Oak, pine, and birch are the primary culprits, and that pollen gets pulled into your HVAC system through the return vents, settling in the ductwork and recirculating through your home every time the heat or AC runs.

Homes near UNC campus — neighborhoods like Westwood, Pinehurst, Glen Lennox, Coker Hills, and Colonial Heights — often have original ductwork dating back decades. Flexible duct materials degrade over time, trapping more debris, and older sheet metal ducts can develop rust and joint gaps that accumulate dust. Many of these homes have never had a professional duct cleaning.

Newer planned communities like Southern Village and Meadowmont, built in the late 1990s and 2000s, are now old enough that construction dust has settled but the ducts are still in good structural shape for a thorough cleaning. These homes benefit from a full HEPA source removal to clear out 15–20 years of accumulated debris.

We've worked in homes across Chapel Hill and Carrboro — from the historic streets near campus to the newer developments on the south and east sides of town. We'll give you an honest assessment of what your system actually needs, and if cleaning isn't necessary, we'll tell you.
